The Critics Choice Movie Awards Nominations & Winners 2013

The Critics Choice Movie Awards (previously the Broadcast Film Critics Association Award) are determined annually by the Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA) to honor the finest in cinematic achievement. The Broadcast Film Critics Association has a history of correctly anticipating Academy Award nominations: between 1997 and 2004, the Critics’ Choice nominations predicted all but two of the 35 Academy Award nominations for Best Picture. The Golden Globe Awards Nominations and Winners 2013

The Golden Globe Awards are determined by members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) recognizing excellence in film and television, both domestic and foreign. In 1943 a group journalists established the HFPA and today represents 55 countries. The nominees for the 71st Annual Golden Globe Awards were announced Thursday morning December 12, 2013.  The awards were presented to the winners on Sunday, January 12. The Washington D.C. Area Film Critics Association (WAFCA) includes in its membership professionals from the DC, Virginia and Maryland areas. Founded in 2002, the WAFCA is comprised of professional DC-based film critics with affiliations in television, radio, print and the internet and has grown to include almost 50 dedicated members. The WAFCA group works to advocate complete freedom of expression in film and film criticism – including the individual critic’s right to disagree with the opinions of their colleagues, and to promote public awareness that film is an important art form as well as a means of entertainment.

The Screen Actors Guild Awards® 2013

The Screen Actors Guild Awards® presented by SAG-AFTRA, started in 1995, is one of the entertainment industry’s most prestigious honors. The SAG Awards exclusively honor performers presenting thirteen awards for acting in film and television focused on both individual performances as well as on the work of the entire ensemble of a drama series and comedy series, and the cast of a motion picture. The Screen Actors Guild Awards randomly selects panels of 2,100 members each from across the country choose the nominees for television and motion pictures. Winners were announced on January 18th, 2014 – winners are in bold.

Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards

The Los Angeles Film Critics Awards are determined by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association (LAFCA) which was founded in 1975 to honor screen excellence on both sides of the camera. The LAFCA is comprised of Los Angeles-based, professional film critics working in the Los Angeles print and electronic media. The association of critics votes annually in December and presents their awards to the winners in January.
