Cannes 2015 Film Festival Official Competition Selections

The Cannes 2015 Film Festival competition has announced the films for the 68th Annual Festival de Cannes today. The Press Conference for the 68th Festival de Cannes, at which the 2015 Official Selection was announced, was held on Thursday 16th April at 11:00 am in Paris. According to the Festival de Cannes description, the mission of the Festival de Cannes is “to draw attention to and raise the profile of films with the aim of contributing towards the development of cinema, boosting the film industry worldwide and celebrating cinema at an international level.”

The Cannes Film Festival has announced its official jury for the 68th festival to judge the competition with jury presidents Joel and Ethan Coen. There are 19 films in Competition. There will be 19 films in Selection at Un Certain Regard whose Jury will be presided by the actress-director Isabella Rossellini.

Actors on the jury are Jake Gyllenhaal (USA), Sophie Marceau (France), Sienna Miller (U.K.) Rossy de Palma (Spain). The jury also includes Mexico’s Guillermo del Toro and Canada’s Xavier Dolan, and composer and singer-songwriter Rolia Traoré from Mali.

The Jury presidents have won five awards at Cannes, with their fourth feature, “Barton Fink,” winning the Palme d’Or. Xavier Dolan shared the Jury Prize at Cannes 2014 for “Mommy” with John-Luc Godard’s “Goodbye To Language”.
